Must See Gallery Shows - May (NYC, Paris, London, LA)
A roundup of gallery shows opening this month, and last chance shows, you won't want to miss. Also, everything FRIEZE NYC!
I am thrilled by the response to this monthly gallery exhibition list! I am so happy that this resource has helped so many of you see more art, get into galleries, find new places you wouldn’t typically see, and it has been so rewarding to read your messages. It has also helped me develop my knowledge of art and the gallery world, so for that, I thank you! Let’s dive in!
It’s Frieze Art Fair in NYC this month. If you’re unfamiliar with Frieze, it’s one of the largest art fairs in the United States, just behind Art Basel. Frieze NYC started in 2012 and then expanded to Los Angeles in 2019. The art fair visits London, New York, Los Angeles, and Seoul throughout each year, gathering anywhere from 60 - 160 galleries from around the world to one central stage. Frieze is one of my favorite times of each year, getting to see so many amazing pieces of art, and being introduced to new galleries and artists that I didn’t know in the past. It’s the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with gallery representatives, artists, and the art world in general. I’ve met so many new friends and acquaintances from attending the fairs, and it’s opened up my horizons to knowledge of how the bustling world of art works and operates.
The art fair runs May 7th-11th at The Shed in Hudson Yards. Tickets must be purchased in advance as you have a time slot to enter to keep lines from getting too long, however, you may visit the art fair any time after your ticketed time. Tickets for Frieze NYC can be purchased HERE!
If you don’t want to go to the art fair but want to get involved, so many galleries and art organizations are having their own smaller events and exhibitions throughout the city in celebration of Frieze week!
TRIBECA GALLERY NIGHT (Friday, May 9th)

On Friday, May 9th, over 70+ galleries will be participating in a gathering we are calling Tribeca Gallery Night. Whether you’re attending Frieze week or just want to get out and see some art with friends, it’s a great way to spend an evening immersing yourself in some artists and galleries you may not know.
